Your spouse's SSN must not be equal to the Primary SSN on another tax return filed for the same year. This commonly occurs when one spouse files a separate tax return while the other attempts to file jointly.
Fix #1: Sign into your PriorTax account and make sure that you entered your and your spouse's SSNs correctly. If not, make the necessary changes right from your rejection status page. Resubmit for filing.
Fix #2: Sign into your account and update your filing status to match your spouse's (on the return they already filed). You can update your filing status from the rejection status page. Resubmit for filing.
Fix #3: In some cases, you may need to amend the tax return your spouse already filed with the IRS. If this is your situation, contact our customer support team for assistance in getting started.
